Germany's Bundestag lower house of
parliament today voted voted to increase german troops in Afghanistan
by up to 850, raising its military contingent to 5,350 soldiers.
429
of 622 german lawmakers backed the escalation of germans military role
in the war with only 111 lawmakers taking a stance and voting against
it.
Deputies from Germany's Left party who held up
posters in an anti-war protest were thrown out of the
Bundestag.

in 2009 the Left Party organized a Peace Protest on the floor of
the Bundestag
